Together Towards Independence

Principal’s welcome

Welcome to Sandelford school’s website which I hope will give you a flavour of our very special learning community and the work that goes on in our school. Our focus is on providing a positive, productive and individualised learning environment where everyone involved; pupils, parents and staff, are supported and encouraged to develop and enhance their life and learning skills. We recognise that all of our young people experience unique challenges to learning and we passionately believe that it is our role as professionals to help “unlock” their potential by providing them and their families, with the means by which they can access our curriculum. We believe that it is only in working collaboratively with other professionals and parents that we can make the best possible provision for our young people.

Please browse the pages of the site to find out how we provide a bespoke “Sandelford specific” skills based programme which is based on the NI Curriculum. At its centre there is a focus on the core skills which our young people require to make the most of all the opportunities that life will present. I am confident that you will also see how we consider that the development of our young peoples’ social & emotional skills and their mental health & wellbeing is central to enabling them to live life fully.

I hope that you find our website interesting and informative, that it provides you with ideas and support and that it gives you an insight into our young people’s achievements, the activities they engage in and that you get a real insight into our Sandelford Family….
