The early years can be some of the most important years of our lives, and here at Sandelford Special School we have dedicated Junior School teachers and support staff. Each class team has the pupils’ best interests at heart and each classroom is designed to create a safe, friendly and nurturing environment. It is a pleasure to introduce our dedicated staff.
Within the Junior School Team, there are 7 classes with pupils ranging from 5 to 8 years old. The team is led by team leader, Mrs McMahon.

The Junior School department combines learning with fun and the best way to learn is to play; fostering early development in fine and gross motor skills, assisting with language and communication, promoting problem-solving, encouraging creativity, concentration and social skills are all benefits of a play based curriculum. The most obvious benefit to a play based curriculum is the FUN; children can become absorbed in playing and learn without knowing that they are learning. All of the skills that are developed in Junior School lay foundations for later learning achievements.
